Interview with Derek Richbell: From Passion to Purpose in Business and Creativity
Q: Derek, you describe yourself as a highly motivated and driven individual. Can you tell us more about how your journey began?
Derek Richbell: I’ve always had a passion for improving every day and pushing the boundaries of what’s possible. My journey really started at a crossroads between entrepreneurial endeavors and a creative vision that I was developing. I found myself torn between these two loves, and that internal struggle eventually led me to Las Vegas in 2015. It was there that I began to figure out what I truly wanted in life.
Q: What drew you to photography, and how did it become such a significant part of your life?
Derek Richbell: Moving to Las Vegas opened up a world of opportunities for me. I started picking up a camera daily, connecting with influential individuals, and pouring my heart into photography every moment I could spare from my regular job. It quickly became more than just a hobby—it was a craft that I fell in love with. Photography allowed me to express my creative vision in ways I hadn’t imagined, and I knew I wanted to take it further.
Q: How did the events of 2020 influence your decision to start your own business?
Derek Richbell: 2020 was a turning point for many of us. For me, it was the moment I decided to combine my entrepreneurial spirit with my creative passion. I realized that I could take what I loved and turn it into a business that helps others tell their stories. That’s when I decided to launch my own business, focusing on delivering clear and precise storytelling through the work I produce.
Q: You mentioned that you separate your creative vision from the work you provide for clients. Can you elaborate on that?
Derek Richbell: Absolutely. While I still create for myself and enjoy exploring my personal creative vision, I believe that in business, the client’s message and story should always take center stage. My role is to ensure that the story each business has is communicated clearly and effectively through my work. It’s about creating a connection with the audience, and I take great care to make sure that the work I produce aligns with the client’s goals and vision.
Q: What advice would you give to others who are at a crossroads between different passions?
Derek Richbell: I would say, don’t be afraid to explore all of your passions. Sometimes it’s not about choosing one over the other, but finding a way to combine them in a way that fulfills you. That’s what I did, and it’s led me to a place where I’m doing what I love every day. If you’re passionate about something, pursue it with everything you’ve got—you never know where it might take you.
Q: How can people get in touch with you if they want their story told through your creative lens?
Derek Richbell: I’m always excited to connect with new clients and hear their stories. If you want your story told in a way that resonates with your audience, feel free to reach out to me. I’m here to help bring your vision to life and connect with your clients on a deeper level.
